Job Title: Senior Engineer, Water Resources (Hydraulic/Hydrologic Specialist)

Description: CA DWR is looking to fill two Senior Engineer Specialist positions that are focused on hydraulics and hydrology. You will be part of the Division of Engineering’s (DOE) Hydraulics Section, with several other Senior Engineers and one Supervising Engineer. The Hydraulics Section provides technical expertise for DOE as we continue to refine the details of our aging infrastructure and provide the engineered solutions to increase capacity and reliability (We also provide hydraulic and hydrologic engineering support for other Divisions within the Department). You will conduct, coordinate, support, and review a wide variety of engineering analyses, studies, and designs involving (but not limited to) many of the State Water Project facilities (e.g. dams, reservoirs, levees, spillways, pipelines, canals, inlet/outlet works). Our ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of hydraulic and hydrologic engineering and hydraulic facilities and structures, with a preferred minimum of 5 years work experience in these fields. The ideal candidate will also work collaboratively, make effective engineering decisions, and communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing). Description: This individual serves as a technical expert for engineering analysis, design, and evaluation of concrete dams, navigation locks, and appurtenant concrete and steel structures; Performs, directs, or reviews studies or design work on dams and appurtenant works. Assists in the evaluation of dam performance and instrumentation data. Develops design guides and criteria, as required; Provides support during dam safety emergency and emergency preparedness drills; May serve as project engineer for assigned projects.  Duties include leading the project team, establishing and accomplishing valid requirements, monitoring all phases of project performance, approving project changes within approved limits, and conducting lessons learned reviews at project completion. Job Description: The Nebraska Dam Safety Program is seeking a professional civil engineer who has an interest in dams and a desire to serve the public while improving the safety of dams across the state.
